Historical Social Research/Historische Sozialforschung is a peer-reviewed academic journal covering political science, social science, cultural studies, and history. It is the official journal of the QUANTUM association and is published by GESIS – Leibniz Institute for the Social Sciences. The journal was established in 1976 as QUANTUM Information and obtained its current name in 1979. The journal publishes four issues plus one supplement per year. All content is available as open access after 1 year.

The journal is abstracted and indexed in SocINDEX, Social Science Citation Index, Scopus, Sociological Abstracts, Historical Abstracts (ABC-CLIO), International Political Science Abstracts, Social Research Methodology Database, and the Social Science Literature Information System.
