Hocine Gacemi (1974 – March 21, 2000) was an Algerian footballer. He was born in Alger, Algeria.

Career

Gacemi started his career with home-town club MC Alger. One of the most promising young strikers in the Algerian league, he signed with JS Kabylie at the beginning of the 1999 campaign. He was being linked with a move to Ligue 1 club RC Lens before he died.

Death

Gacemi died in a hospital in Paris, France on March 21, two days after falling on his head in a league game between JS Kabylie and USM Annaba in Tizi-Ouzou. After receiving a cross from team-mate Fawzi Moussouni, Gacemi managed to score a goal from his header but could not avoid a clash with USM Annaba defender Yacine Slatni. [1] Gacemi landed on his head and lost consciousness. He was transferred immediately to a local hospital and then to Salpêtrière hospital in France, where he eventually succumbed from his injury.
