Hōshi (法師) is a ryokan (Japanese traditional inn) in the Awazu Onsen area of Komatsu, in Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan. Founded in 718, it was the oldest hotel in the world, that was still in operation, as far as the editors of the Guinness World Records knew, until that title was given in 2011 to Nisiyama Onsen Keiunkan in Yamanashi, Japan and founded in 705.[1] The hotel has been operated by the same family for forty-six generations.[2]
