The hyacinth visorbearer (Augastes scutatus) is a species of hummingbird in the family Trochilidae.

It is found only in Brazil. Its natural habitats are subtropical or tropical moist lowland forest and subtropical or tropical high-altitude shrubland. It is becoming rare due to habitat loss.
