Plot introduction

Fourth-grader Ida B. is homeschooled and loves her life, spending a lot of time communing with nature. When her mother is diagnosed with cancer, she faces a lot of difficult challenges. She undergoes a change in her heart, and she has to work hard to make it how it was before. She is helped by her parents and her teacher.
