Description

The engraving shows en:Frigg, wife of en:Odin.

In the lower right corner there is the signature of en:Jenny Nyström (1854-1946), the illustrator. In the bottom left corner there is the signature "W. Meyer X.A." indicating that the wood engraving is from en:Wilhelm Meyer's (1844-1944) xylography company. To the right of this is written "LBH sc[ulpsit]" indicating that the engraver was L. B. Hansen.

The image list on page 468 in the book describes this image as Frigg, Odens hustru.

The image is found on page 13 of en:Fredrik Sander's 1893 edition of the en:Poetic Edda; Edda Sämund den vises : skaldeverk af fornnordiska myt- och hjältesånger om de götiska eller germaniska folkens gamla gudatro, sagominnen och vandringar / öfversättning från isländskan af Fredrik Sander ; med bilder af nordiska konstnärer. Stockholm, Norstedt.
