Abdolreza Rahmani Fazli is the current Interior Minister. His term will be up August 2015, Elections for a new interior minister can be voted in by the majority of people or chosen by the head of Parliament. Due to the recent changes in the political spectrum and the way in which officials acquire political status Iran has become much more inclusive of the majority of people and allowing them to cast a vote. This means that even if the selection of the new Interior minister is a closed door private selection the majority of the people can still choose to vote that person out in which a special election would be held.

In addition to Iran making minor changes to its political process it has also made quite notable big changes. Women can now hold office in Parliament, by including women Iran has also done away with some of the most extreme Islamic rules the most noticeably is the rule that says that there have to be two women witnesses to one male witness when it comes to crimes. The goal of the new interior cabinet is to protect women from the current issues Iran has had to face due to its influx of refugees and its inherent cultural complex nature.

Under the new laws already have taken effect The Interior Minister will have a duty to prosecute rape especially rape behind the badge. Due to the out cry of rape happening at an alarming rate and common people oftentimes accusing officials of committing or participating in crimes against women and children. The new by laws for the Interior Ministry will make it harder for officials to commit crimes with out consequence and will make it easier for mothers especially single mothers to have a legal path to protect themselves and their children.

Other notable changes to the responsibilities of the Interior of Ministry Include establishing programs that account for proper identification and status. As it has always been the mission of the Interior Ministry to care for the security of its people it has come to understand that best practices for the safety and well being of the Republic as a whole is to establish a system that allows everyone to be accounted for. This system will help in the efforts of other areas as well such as business commerce and education.
