Intertex Data AB was founded in 1982 by Karl-Erik Ståhl. The company design and manufactures various types of modems and ADSL modems with built-in firewall and router. The products have full support for SIP based multimedia real-time communication, and includes Session Border Controller (SBC), SIP Proxy, SIP Registrar and IP PBX functionality. The modems are also sold under the brand PowerBit and SurfinBird.

In the fall of 2012, Intertex was merged with the group company Ingate Systems.
