Island FM is an Independent Local Radio station broadcasting across the Bailiwick of Guernsey on 104.7FM and 93.7FM in Alderney. Launched in 1992, Island FM remains the sole commercial station in the island and continues to be extremely successful with high listenership figures.

Island FM, along with Channel 103 were merged with the Midlands Radio group in Ireland in 2013 as part of an internal split within the Tindle group.

The music aired on Island FM consists mainly of popular music, from the 70's to present day.

Listening figures under a 2014-5 survey showed that out of a population of 53,000 adults, 32,000 listened each week, at an average of 15.5 hours per person giving a 44.2% market share. [1]

History

Founded by Kevin Stewart, who remained managing director until 2002.

In February 1998 Sir Ray Tindle acquired Island FM and the station became the first part of the Tindle Radio Group, which now owns and manages various other stations including Jerseys' Channel 103.[2][3]

The stations logo was changed in December 2002 and again in July 2014.[4]
