Gold medal – first place 1956 Melbourne Sharpie class

John "Jack" Urquhart Cropp (23 May 1927 – 25 June 2016) was a New Zealand yachtsman who won an Olympic Gold medal at the 1956 Summer Olympics in Melbourne. Together with Peter Mander, Cropp won the Sharpie class. Born in Hokitika, Cropp resided in Takaka, Golden Bay. He died in 2016 at the age of 89.[1]
