Jacob Bar-Or or Jacob/Yaakov Breuer.

Biography

Jacob Bar-or was born as Jacob Breuer to Jenny Isaac Breuer in 1915. He studied law in Germany and became a successful attorney. Later he moved to Israel to escape NAZI Persecution and assumed the surname "Bar-Or". He dropped the name changed later in life. His sister was Ursula Merkin. In his later years around his mid-eighties he began to experience Alzheimer-like symptoms thereby losing his memory. In 2008 he died in Jerusalem at the age of 92.

Career

Breuer came to Israel in the 1930's and soon became an israeli District attorney. He participated in the trial of Adolf Eichmann. In the trial he was, because of his position as district attorney, one of three judges on the case. The case was also presided over by Benjamin Halevi and Yitzhak Raveh. The chief prosecutor was Gideon Hausner.

Writings

Breuer possessed a strong knowledge of torah and commentaries and even published some collected sermons of his grandfather Rabbi Solomon Breuer in English under the title Chochmo u'Mussar. They were published in three volumes between 1972 and 1977.
