James "Jim" 'JB' Patterson was a professional rugby league footballer of the 1920s, playing at club level for Wakefield Trinity, as a Stand-off/Five-eighth, i.e. number 6.

Jim Patterson played Stand-off/Five-eighth in Wakefield Trinity's 3-29 defeat by Australia in the tour match at Belle Vue, Wakefield on Saturday 22 October 1921.[1]
