Jan Boelen (born 1967, Genk, Belgium) is a curator of design, architecture and contemporary art (e.g. initiator of Manifesta 9). He studied product design at the Media & Design Academy in Genk and is founder and artistic director of Z33 – house for contemporary art in Hasselt (BE). Furthermore, Boelen is head of the Master program for Social Design and the Master program Design Curating and Writing at the Design Academy Eindhoven (NL) and member of the Flemish Committee for Architecture and Design. Currently he is working on the founding of a European Design Parliament as a driving force for change, and he is curating BIO 50 in Ljubjlana (SI), the oldest design biennial in the world.
