As a child, Slaughter trained at Elmhurst Ballet School,[3] but came to realise that she preferred acting and has, in addition to the role mentioned above, appeared as Petrova in Ballet Shoes in 1975 and as Joanna in The History Man in 1981.[1] Slaughter has two sons.[2]
