Estranged is a darkly comic family drama set in a small village in Derbyshire. The play is about sexuality, conformity, family, desire, isolation and escapism; the conflict between the life we have and the life we crave. It tells the story of a soon-to-be-wed couple whose secrets and desires are about to be uncovered less than a week before their wedding. Complete with scheming mothers and long lost lovers.

==Critical Reaction==
Critical reaction from the mainstream press to Charles's play Counterfeit Skin was largely unfavourable. For [[The Stage]], Matt Truman wrote: "If drama is nothing more than conflict, Counterfeit Skin has it coming out of every pore. Mere opposition alone, however, does not make for dramatic tension...Though themes of dominance and submission, honesty and illusion are handled tidily, the plot is dragged down too many short and unnecessary scenes."<ref name="The Stage">[http://www.thestage.co.uk/reviews/review.php/19652/counterfeit-skin], ''The Stage, Monday 28 January 2008''. Accessed Apil 19, 2009.</ref>
In the [[Evening Standard]] Fiona Mountford noted that "Jason Charles takes as his theme a tangle of modern-day gay relationships and manages, in an eye-watering running time of three hours, to offer barely one original thought or genuine sentiment. The dialogue between the six characters, which appears to have been cut and pasted from the greatest hits of the Pet Shop Boys, makes a low-brow magazine agony aunt seem like the wisdom of the ages by comparison."<ref name="The Evening Standard">[http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/theatre/show-23380524-details/Counterfeit%20Skin/showReview.do?reviewId=23434493], ''Evening Standard, Monday 28 January 2008''.
