The Jersey Boat Show is the largest maritime event to be held in the Channel Islands, and is organised by Jersey Marinas on behalf of Ports of Jersey.[2] The first event was held in May 2008, and the 6th event was held in May 2012. It is a free-entry public event, and includes food stalls and entertainment, as well as boat exhibits.

A show is planned for 2014, starting on 3 May.[3]

History

2008-11

HMS York at the 2009 show.

The show is normally attended by a visiting Royal Navy ship, in 2008, this was HMS Kent (F78).[4] In 2009, HMS York (D98) was the visiting ship,[5] followed by HMS Mersey (P283) in 2010,[6] and her sister ship the HMS Severn (P282) in 2011.[7]

2012

It was estimated that 30,000 people attended in 2012, about the same as 2011.[8] HMS Mersey was present again at show.[9]

Exhibitions and displays

The exhibitors at the show consist of yacht and watercraft manufacturers, chandlers, and boat owners. It was reported that 60, or more, boats will be on display at the 2012 event.[10] In 2012, The RNLI lifeguards showed demonstrations of their water rescue skills in the harbour.
