Joanne Lesley Malone CBE (born November 1963) is a British perfumer, who is the founder of companies Jo Malone London and Jo Loves. She is particularly known for scented candles.

Malone was born in November 1963,[1] and grew up in a council house in Bexleyheath, Kent,[2] had severe dyslexia and left school without any qualifications, and created the company with her mother Eileen.[3]

In 1999, Malone sold Jo Malone London to Estée Lauder for "undisclosed millions".[3]

Honours

In 2008, Malone received an MBE,[4] then in 2018 a CBE[5] In 2015, she was a "castaway" on BBC Radio 4's Desert Island Discs.[6]

Personal life

Malone is married to former surveyor, Gary Willcox, and they have a son together.[7]
