Template:Spanish name 2 Antonio Joaquín Parra Fernández (born 17 June 1961) is a Spanish retired footballer who played as a midfielder, and a coach.

Over the course of 11 seasons he amassed La Liga totals of 283 games and 30 goals, mainly with Betis (seven years). He also played two years with Real Madrid.

Football career

Born in Seville, Parra made his professional debuts with hometown club Real Betis at age 19, and played there until 1986–87, appearing in a career-best 44 games – all as a starter – precisely in that season, which had a second stage. He left the Andalusians with 221 matches played in La Liga, scoring 24 goals.

Subsequently, Parra transferred to Atlético Madrid[1] where, after a solid first year (33 games and five goals for a third-place finish) he appeared sparingly, which also occurred in the following two seasons, now with Real Madrid (only 15 matches combined).

After an unsuccessful trial in Hungary with Budapest Honvéd FC, Parra signed with lowly Écija Balompié in 1992, after which he retired. In the 2000s he took up coaching, with Betis' C and B-teams,[2] subsequently acting as a scout for the club.

In late 2006, Parra was named Andalusia's head coach,[3] being replaced in the post by another former Real Madrid player, Adolfo Aldana.
