Joe Piggott (born 23 June 1998) is an English professional footballer who plays for Morecambe on loan from Wigan Athletic, as a Forward.
Club career
Born in Nantwich,[2] Piggott had spells with Rochdale and boyhood club, Everton[2] before joining Scottish side Dundee United in September 2017.[3] He went onto make his first-team debut for Dundee during their Scottish Challenge Cup tie against Alloa Athletic, featuring for 71 minutes in the 3–1 victory.[4]
Despite going onto feature once more for the Terrors, Piggott opted to return to England and in turn joined non-league side, Warrington Town in January 2018.[5] Piggott quickly adapted to life at Warrington, netting the equaliser on his debut during their FA Trophy defeat to National League South side, Wealdstone,[6] and just four days later, securing a brace against Matlock Town.[7] This impressive form was merited with a move to Football League side Wigan Athletic in August later that year.[8]
On 31 August 2018, after an impressive pre-season with Wigan's under-23 side, Piggott sealed a loan move to League Two side Morecambe until January[9] and went onto make his debut during their 3–2 defeat to Bury.[10] Three days later, Piggott netted his first goal for the club during their EFL Trophy defeat to Carlisle United, giving the Lancashire-based side a 2–1 lead in the 24th minute.[11]
