Johanna Warren is an American singer-songwriter.

Early life

Warren was born in Florida.[1] She studied studio arts and Spanish at Bard College, graduating in 2011.[citation needed]

Career

Warren started writing and performing under the name Sticklips in 2008. Toured as a backup vocalist with Iron & Wine in 2012. First solo record, Fates, 2013. Started Spirit House Records[2] in 2016 (releases include Lola Kirke's debut EP)

She released her sophomore solo LP, numun, in 2015 on Team Love Records.[3]. The album made its way on to several year-end lists, including Stereogum's Best New Bands of 2015[4]. Rolling Stone named her an "Artist You Need to Know."[5]

Her "twin" albums Gemini I and II (2016 & 2018)[6][7][8] received praise from The New York Times,[9] Pitchfork[10][11] and NPR,[12] ultimately earning her a performance slot at SXSW 2018.[13]

Warren has been touring extensively since 2012. She has toured with Marissa Nadler,[14] Mitski,[15], Julie Byrne[16] and Lola Kirke.[17]
