John Bowler is an English actor who is best known for playing P.C. Roger Valentine in ITV’s The Bill from 2004 until 2010.
Career
He was educated in Yorkshire, and trained in acting in Glasgow. After a number of TV appearances in his early career, in 1988, John first gained wider recognition for his portrayal of the regular character David Lynch in the romantic sitcom Watching, alongside Liza Tarbuck. He remained in the role until the series ended in 1993.
His extensive list of television credits includes regular roles in Steel River Blues, Woof!, Castles and Peak Practice, as well as guest appearances in series such as Agatha Christie's Poirot, Casualty, Heartbeat, Kavanagh QC, Dangerfield, Grange Hill, Drop The Dead Donkey and Auf Wiedersehen, Pet.
John has also enjoyed stints in three of the UK's most popular soap operas, playing Dougie Slade in EastEnders, John Wilding in Coronation Street and Ethan Black in Crossroads. In 2013-14 Bowler appeared as Chief Superintendent Coulson in two series of WPC 56
Personal life
John is married to Judi Lamb and they have two children, younger Carys and older Joe. His wife Judi is an actress.
