Sir John Eyre (1580–1639) was the member of Parliament for Cricklade in 1614, Calne in 1626, and Chippenham in 1628. In 1610 he attempted to murder Sir Edward Herbert, whom he suspected of having an affair with his wife but escaped serious punishment. He was ambassador to Turkey in 1619–1621.[1]
