John Helyar (born 1951) [1] is an American former journalist who has worked for the Wall Street Journal, Fortune magazine, ESPN.com, ESPN The Magazine and Bloomberg News.[2] He currently works as a research analyst at Select Equity Group.[3]

Helyar is the author of the books Lords of the Realm: The Real History of Baseball (which, according to WorldCat, is held in 688 libraries [4]) and co-author with Bryan Burrough of Barbarians at the Gate: The Fall of RJR Nabisco (held in 2249 libraries [5]).

"Barbarians at the Gate" was made into a film of the same title.[6]
