John McDowell Torbet, formally known as Johnny Torbet (25 September 1903 – 1956), was a Scottish professional footballer born in Benwhat, Dalmellington, Ayrshire. He signed for Partick Thistle F.C. from Cumnock in 1924, and went on to become Partick Thistles' fifth-highest scorer of all time, scoring 116 goals in all. He then moved to Preston North End F.C. in 1933 before moving to Stockport County F.C. and then Ayr United F.C. After retiring as a player, he became the Hearts F.C. trainer in April 1946.
