Joosep Toome (born 21 June 1985) is an Estonian retired professional basketball player. Standing at 2.08 m (6 ft 10 in), he played at the center position. He also represented the Estonian national basketball team internationally.
Professional career
Toome began playing basketball with Kalevi Pojad junior team and TTÜ. He began his professional career in 2005 with Kalev/Cramo of the Korvpalli Meistriliiga. Kalev/Cramo finished the 2005–06 season winning the Estonian Championship, after a 4–3 series win in the KML Finals against TÜ/Rock.
In 2008, Toome left Kalev/Cramo and transferred to TTÜ.
In 2010, he returned to Kalev/Cramo. With Kalev/Cramo, Toome won two more Estonian Championships in 2011 and 2012, before leaving the club after the 2011–12 season.
In 2012, Toome signed for TÜ/Rock. He won the 2014–15 Estonian League championship, after TÜ/Rock defeated his former team Kalev/Cramo in the KML Finals, winning the series 4–1.[1] On 15 September 2015, it was announced Toome will be requiring knee surgery and will miss the 2015–16 season.[2]
Estonian national team
As a member of the senior Estonian national basketball team, Toome competed at the EuroBasket 2015, averaging 3.4 points, 2 rebounds and 0.6 assists per game, in 12.8 minutes.[3]
