José da Silva Maldonado de Eça (Middle Portuguese: José da Silva Maldonado d'Eça), erroneously as José da Silva Machado de Eça was a Portuguese colonial administrator.

Biography

José da Silva Maldonado de Eça was born around the mid 18th century.

He was the 63rd colonial governor of Cape Verde from 27 September 1792 or 1793.[1][2][3] He succeeded Francisco José Teixeira Carneiro and was later succeeded by Marcelino António Bastos in either September 10, 1795 or August 3, 1796.[4]

During his time as governor, he contributed to planting of the first cotton fields in the Cape Verde Islands.[4]
