Journal of Catalysis is a peer reviewed scientific journal devoted to catalysis published by Elsevier since it was founded in 1962 by J.H. de Boer and P.W. Selwood. It covers the fields of heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis.

The current editor-in-chief is J.A. Lercher (Technische Universität München). Former editors-in-chief were F.S. Stone, W.K. Hall, G.L. Haller, W.N. Delgass and E. Iglesia.

Scope

The journal covers publishes papers related to catalysis that relate:[1]

  • synthesis and catalytic function of novel inorganic solids and complexes
  • spectroscopic methods for structural characterization
  • theoretical methods of direct interest and impact in the science and applications of catalysts and catalytic processes
  • novel concepts in surface chemistry
  • catalytic function to fundamental chemical processes at surfaces and in metal complexes

Article types

The Journal of Catalysis publishes the following four types of papers:

  • Letters to the Editor: are short priority publications related to a statement made in a recently published article.
  • Research Notes: are articles that do not warrant priority publication.
  • Priority Communications is a research article that contains original scientific work with a requirement for rapid publication.
  • Research paper: is a full scientific article which contains original scientific work.
