The Journal of Strategic Studies, first published in 1978, is a multi-disciplinary review of forward-looking articles on military and diplomatic strategy (strategic studies). It is published six times per year.

The Journal's founding editor was John Gooch of the University of Leeds. Its editors are Dr. Joe Maiolo of King's College London and Thomas G. Mahnken of the Johns Hopkins University (now Deputy Under-secretary at the Office of the Secretary of Defense).

According to the Journal Citation Reports, the journal has a 2014 impact factor of 0.944, ranking it 57th out of 161 journals in the category "Political Science" and 31st out of 85 journals in the category "International Relations".[1]
