Kellie Shanygne Williams (born March 22, 1976[1]) now Kellie Shanygne Jackson is an American actress best known for her role as Laura Winslow on the television series Family Matters. Her middle name is pronounced Sha-neen".[1]

Biography

Williams was born in Washington, D.C.[1] After Family Matters, she began acting in the ABC television show What About Joan.

Williams was on the Style Network program Clean House for six episodes in 2009, as a substitute host for Niecy Nash.

Personal life

She married Hannibal Jackson on September 5, 2009.[2] She gave birth to a baby girl named Hannah Belle in early summer 2010.[3] She also created the Kellie Williams Program [4] in the Washington D.C. area. The KWP Summer Program in partnership with Councilman Thomas of Ward 5 and Comcast focuses on four main categories: theatre, music, visual arts and dance. The program will provide Washington, DC students between the ages of 14-20 an opportunity to produce a television show to air on Comcast Cable Local On-Demand.[5] She stated, "I wanted to create a program similar to the one I grew up with (Howard University Children's Theatre). I wanted to bring it to the masses, not to just people who were familiar with the arts but to people who had never experienced any art."[6] She has a younger sister and brother named Marti and Donte respectively.[7]
