Kiltormer is a village about 8 miles from Ballinasloe and situated in county Galway. It has a population of around 600 people. Kiltormer is best known for winning the All-Ireland Hurling Championship title in 1992. They beat Birr in the final. The semi-final against Cashel King Cormacs from Tipperary was a three match epic. Interestingly the final was not played on S.Patrick's Day due to the two drawn semifinals. Kiltormer were captained by Aidan Staunton, and managed by John Goode.[1]{
