The steam locomotives of kkStB Class 97 were 0-6-0T tank engines operated by the Imperial Royal Austrian State Railways (kaiserlich-königliche österreichische Staatsbahnen), or k.k.StB, for duties on secondary routes (Nebenbahnen) and branch lines (Lokalbahnen). They were built by the works of the Imperial Royal Privileged Austrian State Railway Company (StEG) at Vienna between 1878 and 1911.
