Kobita Jugnauth (née Ramdanee) is the wife of Pravind Jugnauth, the leader of the Militant Socialist Movement (MSM) and previous Prime Minister of Mauritius, Pravind Jugnauth .
It was the second time that she held the title of Spouse of the Prime Minister of Mauritius given that her husband has held the office of Prime Minister twice. Her first tenure was between 2017 and 2019, while her second tenure is 2019 to 2024.
Early life
[edit]Kobita is the daughter of Lady Ursule Jeannine Maunick (sister of Édouard Maunick) and Sir Kailash Ramdanee.[1][2] Sir Kailash Ramdanee founded the Mauritius Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Co. Ltd which pioneered the manufacture of medicines in Mauritius.[3] Kobita completed her secondary education at Queen Elizabeth College, Mauritius.[4]
Kobita Ramdanee married Pravind Jugnauth in 1992.[5] They have three daughters: Sonika (born 1994), Sonali (born 1996) and Sara.[6]
