Template:Geobox Kopidlno is a town in the Jičín District of the Czech Republic. It has a population of 2,238. Kopidlno lies between Jičín and Poděbrady, 80 kilometers from Prague.

History

Kopidlno has 4 outskirts - Kopidlno, Drahoraz, Mlýnec, Ledkov, Pševes. The word Kopidlno is probably derived from the name of medicinal plants found in the surrounding forests. The first owners of Kopidlno were the Lords of Kopidlno.

Sights

A castle from 16th century and the church of St. Jacob are two of the outstanding historical buildings.

Events

According to the Wikipedia article, Czech Bluegrass, in 1972 Kopidlno founded the first (and now longest-running) Bluegrass festival in Europe.
