Kunal Kapoor (born 26 June 1959 ), son of the late actors Shashi Kapoor and Jennifer Kendal, is an Indian film actor who made his debut with the 1972 English-language film Siddhartha, later acted in Shyam Benegal's Junoon (1978 film) and in his first mainstream Bollywood film Ahista Ahista (1981 film) opposite Padmini Kolhapure as well as Vijeta (1982 film). He also acted in the art films Utsav (1984) and Trikal (1985).
In 1987, he stopped acting after Trikal to set up his own company, Adfilm-Valas, to producing and direct television commercials. Adfilm Valas has also line-produced for many international feature films and ad films shot in India. Notably, the credit sequence of the film City of Joy, and the French films Le Cactus (2005) and Fire in Paradise.
He was born in the famous first family of the bollywood, the Kapoor family, to Prithviraj Kapoor's "mere pass maa hai" Deewaar-fame youngest son Shashi Kapoor and Shahi's British theater actress wife Jennifer Kendal who died of Cancer in 1984. His siblings are Karan Kapoor (b. 18 January 1962) and Sanjana Kapoor (b. 27 November 1967). Karan was a popular model made famous by Bombay Dyeing shooting and shirting advertisement, and he also acted in Sultanat (1986) opposite Juhi Chawla as well as later in Loha (1987 film) with Dharmendra. Karan now runs a photography company in UK. Their sister Sanjana Kapoor runs ancestral Prithvi Theatre. Kunal was married to filmmaker Ramesh Sippy's daughter Sheena, who is a well known photographer. They had two children together, Shaira and Zahan. Kunal and Sheena are now divorced.
