Kurt Ranke (born April 14, 1908 in Blankenburg am Harz; died June 6, 1985 in Stadensen) was a German ethnologist, Germanist, and folklorist. He helped introduce functional psychological dimensions to folklore genre theory.[1] He also started the work on the Encyclopedia of the Folktale.
