Kurumkan (Template:Lang-ru; Template:Lang-bxr) is a rural locality (a selo) and the administrative center of Kurumkansky District of the Republic of Buryatia, Russia, located 413 kilometers (257 mi) from Ulan-Ude. Population: 5,465 (2010 Census);[1] 5,957 (2002 Census);[2] 6,687 (1989 Soviet census).[3]

Etymology

The name "Kurumkan" comes from the Evenk language and means a stone river.

Transportation

There is a bus that runs twice a day between Ulan-Ude and Kurumkan.
