Kyle Dake is an American world champion freestyle wrestler and former folkstyle wrestler. As a folkstyle wrestler, Dake was only the third wrestler to win four NCAA Division I national titles and the first to do so in four different weight classes.[1]

Folkstyle

Dake competed for the wrestling team at Cornell University. Between 2010 and 2013, he became only the third wrestler to win four NCAA Division I titles. Among four-time champions, Dake is the only one to win each title in four different weight classes, and the only one to forgo a year of not officially competing.[2]

Following his final season, WIN Magazine awarded Dake the Dan Hodge Trophy as the most outstanding college wrestler.[3]

Freestyle

At the 2018 World Wrestling Championships in Budapest, Hungary, Dake won a world gold medal at the 79 kg weight class.

At the 2019 World Wrestling Championships in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan, Dake took home his second straight gold medal, beating Jabrayil Hasanov for the second straight year. “I know he is a strong opponent and he is very good in tie-ups and clinches as well as front headlock,” said Dake of Hasanov.[4]
