Kyushu Electric Power
Appearance
The Kyūshū Electric Power Company (九州電力株式会社, Kyūshū Denryoku Kabushiki Gaisha) (TYO: 9508, OSE: 9508) provides power to 7 prefectures (Fukuoka, Nagasaki, Ōita, Saga, Miyazaki, Kumamoto, Kagoshima), and recently, to some parts of Hiroshima Prefecture. The shortened name of 九電 (Kyuu den) may sometimes be used. As of 2006, the image character[clarification needed] was Chisato Moritaka. In 2011 the company was criticised for attempting to deceitfully[clarification needed] manipulate public opinion in favor of reactivating two reactors at the Genkai Nuclear Power Plant. - November, 2005 Began supplying electricity to Hiroshima city, marking the first such incident (where an electric provider provides electricity out of its area) in Japan's history.
