"Lak 28 Kudi Da"
Song

"Lak 28 Kudi Da" is a track by Punjabi artist Diljit Dosanjh, with producer Honey Singh, and features on the soundtrack album to the film The Lion of Punjab, which also starred Dosanjh. The track was released digitally in India and globally by Music Waves as part of the album soundtrack on 31 January 2011; the physical release of the soundtrack was made available on Speed Records, India. Despite its inclusion on the soundtrack release, the song itself does not feature in the film.

In the UK, the track received a digital and physical release on 1 April 2011 through a compilation of the same name on Kamlee Records, a subsidiary of Moviebox Birmingham. The set included recent tracks by Punjabi and bhangra artists.

Chart performance

The track entered the download charts, including iTunes, on 27 February 2011. As a result of the soundtrack being made available for digital download globally.[1] When the track received an official UK digital release through Kamlee Records, the original global download version was restricted on UK online music retailers.[2][1]

When released in UK, the track re-emerged on various charts and entered the official Asian Download Chart at number 15 on 23 April 2011.[3] Three weeks later, the track climbed to number one on the chart.[4]

The track became the first track to hit number one by a non-Bollywood or non-British Punjabi act since the chart was launched in 2010, it is both Dosanjh and Honey Singh's first major UK hit. [citation needed]
