Le lac des fées
Template:Auber operas Le lac des fées (The Fairy Lake) is a grand opera in five acts composed by Daniel Auber to a French libretto by Eugène Scribe and Mélésville (the pen name of Anne-Honoré-Joseph Duveyrier). The story is set in the Harz Mountains and based on a German ballad. The opera premiered at the Théâtre de l'Académie Royale de Musique in Paris on 1 April 1839. The principal roles were sung by the American-born soprano, Maria Dolores Nau (Zélia, Queen of the fairies), the tenor, Gilbert-Louis Duprez (Albert, a young student and poet), the mezzo-soprano, Rosine Stoltz (Marguerite, an innkeeper), and the baritone, Nicolas-Prosper Levasseur (Rodolphe de Croxembourg).
