Liam McCarthy (born 2 March 1963 in Piltown, County Kilkenny) is an Irish retired sportsperson. He played hurling with his local club Piltown and was a member of the Kilkenny senior inter-county team from 1987 until 1994. He won an All Ireland runners up medal in 1991, he added a winners senior medal in 1992 and another in 1993. Liam holds a unique record in being the only hurler to win an All Ireland Medal in Minor, U 21, Junior, and Senior. His Grand- uncles, The Doyles of Mooncoin won a record of 19 All Ireland Senior hurling medals with Kilkenny A[1]
