Line 4 of the Rio de Janeiro Metro is a line currently, as of February 2016, under construction. It will run from General Osório in Ipanema to Jardim Oceânico in Barra da Tijuca.

Construction

Construction of this line started in June 2010. It will reach the Barra da Tijuca neighbourhood in the West Zone, passing under São Conrado and Rocinha. All stations will be underground, but there will be a bridge leading to a tunnel inside a mountain. Completion is due in July 2016.[needs update][1]

The Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro remains responsible for the expansion of metro network, through Rio Trilhos.
