The Marshall Thundering Herd college football team competes as part of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS), representing the Marshall University in the Eastern Division of Conference USA (C-USA). Since the establishment of the team in 1895, Marshall has appeared in 14 bowl games .[1] The latest bowl occurred on December 16, 2017, when Marshall defeated Colorado State 31–28 in the 2017 New Mexico Bowl . The victory in that game brought the Herd's overall bowl record to eleven wins and three losses (11–3).[2]
