This is a list of genealogy databases and online resources that are not specifically restricted to a particular place, family set, or time period in their content.

- Cyndi's List, containing >250,000 resource links, categorized and cross-referenced in more than 180 categories.
- Deutscher Genealogieserver of the Verein für Computergenealogie, major portal for German genealogy and genealogical societies.
- FamilySearch - a database developed by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over 60 million people in the Pedigree Resource File.
- JRI-Poland - JRI-Poland, Polish Jewish genealogy database. Over 5 million records
- All Lithuania Database - All Lithuania Database, Lithuanian Jewish genealogy database. Over 1.3 million records
- GEDCOMP - automated, free GEDCOM COMParison mostly related to Denmark.[1]
- GenCircles - Surnames from over 90 million ancestors can be searched.
- Genealogy.com - covers 130 million names in 180,000 actual family trees
- GeneaNet - an international genealogy database. Includes entries in excess of 75 million, statistically representing more than 210 million people
- GENUKI, information covering England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man; Irish County Based Genealogical Centres affiliated to the Irish Family History Foundation
- Hindu genealogy registers at Haridwar, India, microfilmed at the Genealogical Society of Utah (GSU), USA.

- MyHeritage - research, an aggregated search system covering a large number of genealogy databases.

- Rodovid - global genealogy, over 22 languages, large genealogy wiki, supporting sourced collaborative.
- Rötter ("Roots") major portal for Swedish genealogy and genealogical societies united in The Swedish Federation of Genealogical Societies (Sveriges Släktforskarförbund).
- Serbian Genealogical Society - Contains an online database with surnames, locations and background information. Limited access for unregistered users.
- SortedByName - millions of entries from transcription projects, sorted alphabetically and by Soundex, with links to their respective transcription project sites.
- USGenWeb Project - National umbrella organization which supports grassroots genealogy enthusiasts in collecting and sharing data via the web.
- Werelate.org - large genealogy wiki, supporting sourced collaborative. With wiki pages for over 2 million persons, 700,000 families. Sponsored by the Allen County Public Library and the Foundation for On-Line Genealogy. Also hosts the largest genealogical referenced place index with over 400,000 wiki pages and a genealogical source index with almost one million wiki pages.
- World Connect - Contains 726 million user contributed names as of January of 2014. Free to view and to add information using gedcom files. The website is part of the RootsWeb project, now owned by Ancestry.com.
