The Lobaev sniper rifle is a rifle line of custom-built bolt-action sniper rifles manufactured at the now defunct small, private company named "Tsar-Cannon Ltd" (ООО Царь-Пушка), which produced benchrest equipment and long-range, sniper and mountain hunting rifles in Tarusa, Russia.[1] The Lobaev rifles are based on a single-shot bolt-action designed for benchrest shooting by Vladislav Lobaev. The chambering, barrel, stock, ammunition feeding method and other rifle characteristics are determined by the clients' preferences.[2]

Variants

Lobaev rifles are offered in two main variants.

The first variant is the SVL, СВЛ - Снайперская винтовка Лобаева (Lobaev sniper rifle). The SVL variant has a field quick barrel change feature and the top of the receiver features a Picatinny rail to mount aiming optics. Lobaev SVL sniper rifles are factory guaranteed to have 0.3 MOA accuracy with specific ammunition. In long-range precision rifles, the chamber and throat area of the barrel are often custom made for a particular cartridge, meaning the rifle (system) is consciously constructed for optimal use with a particular cartridge case and projectile combination. If projectiles with differing dimensions are to be used this will generally erode such a custom-made system's accuracy potential. With a typical accuracy potential of sub-0.2-0.3 MOA at ranges up to 2,300 meters, chief designer Vladislav Lobaev believes his company builds the most accurate guns in Europe.[1] Further Mr. Lobaev said the .408 Cheyenne Tactical-chambered single-shot SVLK-14S bolt-action rifle is the most accurate long-range sniper rifle in the world.[3]

The second variant is the OVL, ОВЛ - Охотничья винтовка Лобаева (Lobaev hunting rifle). The OVL variant is used among hunters and sportsmen like benchrest shooters, etc.
