Lost Planet 2 is an upcoming third-person shooter video game and sequel to Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, both developed and published by Capcom.

On February 24, 2009 an exclusive trailer was released on Xbox Live Marketplace. The trailer showed the games producer Jun Takeuchi explaining the story and gameplay of Lost Planet 2.

Plot

The story takes place back on E.D.N. III 10 years later after the events of the first game. The snow has melted and jungles and more tropical areas have taken the place of more frozen regions.

Development

Lost Planet 2 will be running on the MT-Framework 2.0, an updated version of the engine used in several Capcom-developed games.[2] Only an Xbox 360 version is currently at works,[3] but other platforms are being considered. [4]

Gameplay

Many of the original gameplay features will return, but new to the sequel is co-op support for the campaign, which supports up to 4 players.[5] Capcom has yet to give further details on how the co-op will work.

Some multiplayer additions were also visible, including deployable shields and platforms that allow players to hitch a ride on or even man gun turrets mounted on VS mechs.
