Lliboutry gave explanation for the formation of Penitentes.[1]

Louis Lliboutry (Template:Lang-es) was an early French glaciologist, geographer and mountaineer. One of his most famous works is the extensive treaty of Nieves y Glaciares de Chile: Fundamentos de glaciología published in 1956. Lliboutry's works concentrated on the glaciology of the Dry Andes and Wet Andes, especially in the surroundings of Santiago. One of his most notable contributions was an explanation for the formation of penitentes.[1]
