Mary Maddison "Maddie" Gardner (born July 13, 1993) is an internationally recognized American allstar cheerleader. She was the point flyer for the Large Senior All-Girl level five competitive cheerleading team Senior Elite of the Cheer Extreme Allstars from 2006-2012, winning the gold medal at the Cheerleading Worlds in 2010 and 2012. [1][2] Her most notable contribution to cheerleading is the first-ever performance of a "ball up 360 tick-tock" in 2010. The successful performance of this stunt at the 2010 Cheerleading Worlds made her one of the most well-known cheerleaders in the industry.

Personal Life

Maddie began her competitive cheerleading career at age seven at Cheer Extreme Allstars in Kernersville, North Carolina. She attended Mount Airy High School in Mount Airy, North Carolina, where she was an honor student and an active participant in the school's student government, Interact Service Club, and cheerleading team. Maddie became captain of her school's cheerleading team in her sophomore year. In addition to being a part of many extracurricular activities and hobbies outside of school, Maddie continuously competed for various Cheer Extreme Allstars teams, including the gym's level five Large Senior All-Girl team, Senior Elite. [3] Maddie also reportedly volunteered at the local hospital and for various charities and organizations throughout high school. [4] She graduated in 2012, telling reporters she had made a decision to end her allstar cheerleading career. As a senior, Maddie, as told to interviewers, applied to one university with a competitive cheerleading team, the University of Georgia, to study communications. Maddie chose to attend the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and is currently majoring in journalism.

Career

Maddie has made numerous media appearances around the globe as a speaker, celebrity judge, and stunt instructor. Between Worlds 2009 and 2010, Maddie was chosen as Inside Cheerleading Magazine's December cover girl and was also the single most featured cheerleader for the magazine as evidenced by large banners with her face at booths around the USA. [5] In 2011, CNN followed Cheer Extreme's level five Large Senior All-Girl team Senior Elite as they prepared for Worlds 2011, featuring Maddie Gardner and the rest of her team. [6] On March 1, 2012, Maddie debuted a line for Fancy Face Cosmetics, a cheerleading makeup company with products designed to be sweat proof. The Maddie Loves Shimmer collection included three of Maddie's favorite shimmer colors and Maddie's favorite lipstick. Each collection came with an autographed picture, makeup bag, and tote bag. [7] Shortly after Worlds 2012, Maddie made the covers of The Cheerleading Magazine and Inside Cheerleading Magazine. After Worlds 2012, Maddie reportedly signed a multi-year management deal with Proformance Sports Marketing and Entertainment, Inc., a sports management, marketing and consulting agency based in Austin, Texas. [8] The signing made Maddie the first-ever individual cheerleader to sign a sports management contract.

Secret Diary of an American Cheerleader

Maddie was chosen as one of "Cheer Channel's Superstars of All Stars." Alongside her were other nationally recognized all star cheerleaders including Kiara Nowlin, Gabi Butler, Whitney Love, Kelsey Rule, Cami Branson, Erica Englebert, and junior newcomer to the all star scene, Bianca Treger. As part of the elite group, they appeared as guest stars in the spirit industry's very first web series, "Secret Diary of an American Cheerleader" produced by the Cheer Channel. [9][10] The show aired on the Cheer Channel Online Network as well as YouTube on May 28th, 2012 and starred actress, Neva McIntosh in the role of Emma Franklin. The show aired on the Cheer Channel's cable block on Southern California's channel 64 on September 9, 2012.
