Madison Christian School (also known as MCS) is an Association of Christian Schools International [2] and AdvancED [3] accredited private school [4] located in Groveport, Ohio. It was founded in 1978, and is an non-profit organization. As of 2016, approximately 525 students are enrolled in grades Preschool - 12. The campus comprises approximately 64 acres near the city of Columbus.

History

  • 1978 - Madison Christian School began with 15 preschool students
  • 1979 - Kindergarten Program added
  • 1980 - Grades 1 - 5 included in course offerings
  • 1981 - The Ohio Department of Education granted an official "Letter of Approval" for MCS to offer Preschool through 6th grade
  • 1983 - State charter extended to include coursework up to 8th grade
  • 1997 - Activity Center built, 9th grade added
  • 1998 - 2000 10th-12th grade added
  • 2001 - First graduating senior class
  • 2012 - Formation of Curriculum Departments
  • 2014 - ACSI and AdvancEd Accreditations

Athletics

Madison Christian School is a member of the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA). High school teams participate in the Mid-Ohio Christian Athletic League which includes the following private schools: Delaware Christian School, Gahanna Christian Academy, Granville Christian Academy, Madison Christian School, Northside Christian, Shekinah Christian, and Tree of Life Christian Schools. Junior High teams compete in the Central Ohio Athletic League (COAL). Additionally, MCS participates with various non-league public and private schools in and around the Central Ohio area.

Madison Christian School participates in the following sports: Baseball, Golf, Swimming, Basketball, Soccer, Tennis, Volleyball, Cross Country, and Softball. Junior High, JV, and Varsity levels are available for both male and female.

Arts and Activities

In addition to athletics, Madison Christian School students take part in the Arts through the offerings of Drama, Band, and Choir. MCS's most recent theatrical productions included Beauty and the Beast and Charlotte's Web. Extra curricular activities are also a part of MCS offerings. Some of these activities include: Bowling Club, Homecoming Dance, Fall Fest, Chapel Services, Eagle Leadership Experience, Student Movie Nights, Christmas Service Projects, Junior/Senior High Prom, Student Council, Class Retreats, National Honor Society, Student Lead Bible Studies, Class Unity Day, National Junior Honor Society, and Serve-a-thon to name a few.
