Marc A. Spilker (born June 28, 1964) is an American financial executive and investor. He is a founding Partner of GPS Investment Partners LLC and Chairman of Chiron Investment Management LLC.
Life and career
A native of Long Island, New York, Spilker is a 1982 graduate of W.C. Mepham High School. He received a BS in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania in 1986.
Spilker started his career at O'Connor & Associates.[1] In 2010, Mr. Spilker retired from Goldman Sachs following a 20-year career with the firm.[2] At Goldman he served as co-head of the Investment Management Division (IMD) and was also a member of the firmwide Management and Risk Committees. [3]
From 2010 to 2014 Spilker was President of Apollo Global Management and a member of the firm’s Executive Committee. [4] As of 2017, the position of President at Apollo had not been filled since Spilker stepped down.[5]
Alumni and professional boards
Spilker is a member of the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton Undergraduate Executive Board.,[6] iSentium, LLC, The New 42nd Street, Inc., The Samuel Bronfman Department of Medicine Advisory Board at Mount Sinai School of Medicine and the Advisory Board for Mount Sinai’s Institute for Genomics and Multiscale Biology. Additionally, he serves on the Third Way Board of Trustees, where he is the Founder of Third Way’s Capital Markets Initiative. He is a member of the Social Finance, Inc. Advisory Council and chairs the RFK Leadership Council at the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights.
Spilker previously served on the Investment Advisory Committee at Google and was a member of the American Stock Exchange, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, and the Council of Economic and Fiscal Advisors for Governor Andrew Cuomo. He has served on the boards of the Philadelphia Stock Exchange, the Stone and Bridge Street Funds, BrokerTec, and Bondbook, LLC.
Civic involvement
Spilker received the Robert F. Kennedy Ripple of Hope Award in 2010 and he is a recipient of the 2016 Wharton Alumni Award for Distinguished Service.
Spilker is a committed supporter of independent public affairs documentaries and has provided funding for three prime time PBS specials, all of which received critical acclaim and numerous awards. These films include Anti-Semitism in the 21st Century: The Resurgence (PBS 2007), Jerusalem: Center of the World (PBS, 2009), and The Jewish Journey: America (PBS, 2015). Spilker also supported an independently produced documentary short about the life of pianist Byron Janis and a five-part media series for The New 42nd Street, Inc. and was a co-producer of the 2005 film Romance and Cigarettes.

Spilker is married to Diane I. Spilker and lives in New York City.
